Generally, Home Renovators make additions or changes to a home. Renovations can sometimes include adding a bedroom or bathroom, updating a kitchen or finishing a basement. Along with construction work, renovators are often required to find new renovation projects through promoting their services. Graduates of this 26 week long training program will receive in-class instruction and hands-on training by qualified instructors with years of experience in the Home Renovation industry.

In Class and In Shop Training

  • Hands-on and theory: Blueprint reading, estimating, Visio, software fundamentals, hand & power tools, flooring, roofing, interior and exterior finishes, Introduction to plumbing, overview of electrical, painting, tiling, foundations, floors, skylights, decks, stairs, Energy Star building practices
  • Small Business Management Skills including: construction business management, marketing and communications for the construction industry
  • Safety training: WHMIS, First Aid/CPR, Hilti, Fall Arrest, Construction safety training
  • Employability and Essential Skills including; numeracy, communications skills training, job searching, resumes, interview skills
