The Centre for Skills Development & Training hosted an official opening of its new location at 3350 South Service Road in Burlington on September 21, 2016. “This move was significant in providing The Centre space to grow its services and programs,” said Stuart Miller, Director of the Halton District School Board (HDSB) and Chair, Centre Board of Directors.
Services offered at The Centre’s new site include employment and training for job seekers; ESL classes, English language training and settlement services for newcomers; academic upgrading and financial incentives for employers to support training and hiring. The Centre also delivers pre-apprenticeship skilled trade programs at another location in Burlington.
“I am very pleased that The Centre chose to keep its headquarters in Burlington,” said Mayor Rick Goldring. “The Centre’s re-investment in our city is indicative of the municipality’s success in creating a healthy business environment. Employment and workforce development are integral services to our residents and employers.”
“The new location provides job seekers with access to multiple services, said Lisa Rizzato, CAO of The Centre. “We also have great rental space for companies looking to host an off-site meeting or training session.”
