Duties and Responsibilities:
• Install aerial strand, down guys, anchors
• Lashing cable and fiber
• Operate cable lashing machines and other lineman equipment
• Outside Plant (OSP) line construction with coax, copper and fibre cables
• Pole transfers and associated tasks
• Reading and interpreting plans and locates
• Complete As Built drawings.
• Operate vehicle-mounted aerial device equipment
• Load and unload equipment and cable trailers
• Perform testing and troubleshooting if required
• Follow safe work practices and procedures

Experience Required:
• Minimum 1 year of Aerial CATV Distribution Technician related experience in a telecommunications environment
• Technical training, certification an asset
• Preference given to candidates with telecommunication ( telecom ) experience in outside plant construction (OSP) and FTTx projects

Additional Requirements:
• Possess a valid driver’s license ( clean Driver abstract required to be insurable)
• Willing to work overtime, weekends, evenings and emergency call outs when required • Possibility of travel on short projects
• Able to take direction
• Successful candidates will need to pass criminal records check
• Self-motivated, disciplined, organized and a team player
• Physically fit
• Able to work in varied weather conditions
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and repetitive tasks
• Work at heights and within confined spaces.

Burlington based telecom company requires an Entry Level Business Telephone Installer to perform installation and service of Business Telephone Systems in the Golden Horseshoe area. Instatel Communications has been selling and supporting telecommunication and network equipment to businesses across Canada for over 32 years. Job Description:
The Entry Level Field Technician will drive a company van and be trained on installation and service of Digital and VoIP based business telephone systems, support of legacy business telephone systems, installation of patch panels, racks, Cat5e/6 cabling and CCTV surveillance camera systems. Some IT support may be available based on applicant skills.

Requirements:
  • Looking for an ambitious, technically minded individual to become a Field Technician with our company.
  • Applicants with basic to no experience installing/servicing business phone systems are welcome to apply.
  • Any applicants with previous experience installing Toshiba, Panasonic, Avaya, Cisco, Nortel or other VoIP business phone systems is an asset.
  • Experience installing Network Cabling CAT5e/6 is also an asset.
  • Working at heights from ladders or Skyjacks is required from time-to-time.
  • Must be comfortable with heights.
  • Applicants must have strong technical computer skills.
  • Experience installing routers and switches or any IT experience working on Windows Desktops and Servers is an asset but is not the primary focus of the job.
  • The successful candidate will be trained and certified on Digital and VoIP business telephone systems from Panasonic, Toshiba and NEC. It’s essential that the chosen applicant possess excellent technical, troubleshooting, analytical and organizational skills along with great people skills.
  • A strong command of the English Language both written and oral is a must. Candidate must have a clean driving record and be able to provide an abstract on request.

This is a full-time position from 8:30AM to 5:00PM, Monday to Friday.
Occasional overtime and weekend work will be required.
Compensation: Hourly wage based on experience.
